The Rains Came Down. And the Floods Came Up.

That is the story of Portales this week. The town doesn't have a drain system at all, and it is very noticeable when it pours and hails all week. It keeps things interesting though. Especially when I ride my bike while holding my umbrella. It is a legit thing.
Unfortunately the rain makes it impossible to see a lot of our recent converts, investigators, and less-actives. Because I lot of them live on dirt roads and everything is flooded it's not the best idea. Before it got to bad we decided to go and see our recent converts the Melendez kids. That was scary!! Half way through the lake we decided it probably wasn't the safest drive we have ever made. Let's just say either the car was going to get stuck or tip, we couldn't decided which one. Either way though I decided I was going to take off my shoes before I started to push because I was wearing my favorite grey flats. But by some miracle we made it :) God is good. But we are waiting for it to really dry up before we try that again. I just kept on saying "We're okay. I'm from a place with dirt roads!" Then this week we saw our friend the Kona Ice man, remember the one I gave a card to. And we were knocking on our investigators door, had been for about 15 minutes cuz we could hear her inside, so we ran over to get one, and he gave us one for free!! Then we went back to knocking :) But unfortunately she still didn't answer. Brings me to my next thing please pray that we can find new investigators. We contact for at least 4 hours every day and we know people are prepared we just need help finding them. We actually led the Zone last week in Morning Finds! This week we went back into Hna. Gonzalez's old planners to find some old potentials and I'm really excited to see how that goes. But with this transfer being changed to a 5 week transfer because of the Mission President change we have a lot to do, because I know we can have a baptism this transfer! :) I dog almost ate my leg off this week. Seriously the scariest moment of my mission so far. I was traumatized and couldn't ride past that house for 3 days after. Pero esta bien. Esta bien. That really is the big stories from this week the rest is just details. But I love it here. I love the gospel. I love being a missionary. It's the best decision of my life! And I love Spanish!! xoxo con amor, Hermana Slade Line of the Week: Me: So what are some good things the Word of Wisdom says to eat. Bryan: Fruits. Vegetables. Me: Yes. Bryan: And Tacos + Hamburgers? Me: Yeah. Bryan: Oh phew! I was worried!!
