Or the thunder. Or the homemade tortillas today. Yes this afternoon a member is going to teach us how to make some rocking homemade flour tortillas. Don't worry I plan on taking notes. My companion says she only knows how to make homemade corn ones, and that just won't do. Anyway we have to learn because we've decided we are going to throw ourselves a Cinco de Mayo party, even though no Mexicans actually celebrate Cinco de Mayo. This week was a party! Filled with lots of preaching + the Spirit of course. Thank you for the Valentine/Easter goodies (in particular goldfish, which my companion tried for the first time) my Pocatello family!! And thank you for all the Easter cards my family!! They all came on Saturday so it was perfect!! This week really was a giant fiesta with interviews with President, Exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders-who only speak English- The Branch Easter party, dinner at the Melendez, knocking + the weather! And of course a fiesta can't be complete without pinatas! And this week had those too!
Interviews with President were awesome! They always give me an extra boost of alacrity. We got an explanation about our novela, turns out the assistant thought that me and Hna. Oigles should be together because 2 whites learn Spanish together better, they think. Dang assistants messing with our lives. But no I am supposed to be with Hna. Gonzalez and I love her! She's hilarious! Then that day we got called by the STL and they asked if they could come the next day for exchanges. Keep in mind they are English sisters that no even less Spanish than I do. So I had to teach lessons IN SPANISH all by myself!! Talk about stressful. Don't worry though I was given our solid investigators that there is no way I could mess up there salvation jajaja. I just had to ask them to speak mas lento. But it was an interesting day for sure, and somehow I managed :) Unfortunately I had to give up our first spanish dinner appointment to Hna. Gonzalez and her STL because last time they were throwing out hard Catholic doctrine questions, and I didn't even understand. But my favorite part of exchanges is the "chisme" that goes on afterwards! Crazy things always happen on exchanges and I love it!But we did get dinner from the Melendez this week. So I did get to experience some legit Spanish food. And I liked. This is the food I've waited for. This is why I was called Spanish speaking. They are members like their family makes up over half of the Branch. They are so nice! And they had a pinata that was a horse and it was bigger than a real life shetland pony!! This is for real peeps! The Branch Easter Party was this week. Oh man talk about craziness. So. Many. Children. I loved it!! Don't worry I'll send some videos home from it.We did quite a bit of knocking this week with the weather not many people were just hanging outside. We set some sweet finding goals that have been paying off!! One highlight from knocking is we got invited inside of Juan's home. Well never have I seen so many Virgin Marys! There were statues, calenders, laps, blankets, clocks, posters, you name it they had it in a Virgin Mary) But he accepted a baptism date of May 10th so pray for that!! Another knocking moment was when this lady cursed us I'm pretty sure with witch craft and then opened the door more so she could more violently slam it. Fun times. I even busted out a 2 handed knock! Gotta keep things real when people won't answer.Anyway I love it here! I love Spanish! I know form sentences in past tense! It's the little things that seem big! Pray for mas espanol. And hopefully this week we might be able to go to the temple!! I'm so excited!! Love you all!!xoxocon amor,
Hermana Slade. BTW: We locked ourselves out of our apartment this week so I had to climb through this tiny window. Diff-i-cult. And yesterday at church we were passing around an availability calender to go and teach with us and our investigator signed up, with an exact time and everything. Yep that's what I'm talking about. The investigators are more active than the members jajaja.
Line of the Week:
Bryan: So we can't go shopping on Sunday.
Me: Nope Bryan: Wait!! Does that mean Walmart too!!?
Me: Yeah sorry no Walmart.
Bryan: But Walmart is the best!
