March madness + miracle march are in full swing here. Faith brings miracles. (Ether 12:12-16) Behold, it was the faith of miracles that caused miracles to happen. If we open our eyes there are miracles every day! In my journal, which I'm still writing in every night + still not enjoying one bit, but one day I will, I try to write down one miracle from each day. And there always is at least one!
My first baptism should be this Saturday. So pray for Johnathan and I'll tell you his whole story next week. But the fact that my first baptism could be someone I taught from his very first lesson, not someone Hna. Rocha + Loefke were teaching before I came here, is a miracle.
I had something from Pepperidge Farm this week! Miracle!! Just saying I wouldn't mind some goldfish.. But it was fabulous! Made me think of home.
Today I was finally able to take down the Christmas décor, I felt we know each other good enough now that she wouldn't get too upset. But while I was taking it down I did listen to Christmas music!
This week the wind + dirt have been crazy! On Saturday night right after we got home we got a "Dust Storm Warning. Avoid Travel." Miracle.
Speaking of wind + miracles. On Tuesday night it was super cray cray outside + we went to an investigator's house with a member to take some brownies and teach a lesson. Well she wouldn't answer even though we saw her looking at us through the window.. So we went back to the car.. and it was locked!! With the keys in it! And our phone in it! And the members phone in it! And it was freezing! So we knocked on the investigator's door again and she still wouldn't answer. So we started our walk across town. And Renee didn't even have a coat. But then somehow we got a ride with some thug to Braum's-Big J's but also a mini grocery store- we called Renee's mom and she didn't answer. Then Sister Martin appeared out of nowhere, bought us ice cream, + let us use her phone to call more people. We finally got a hold of the elders who were near Renee's mom so she came and got us and we got the car. Which had been left behind the investigator's car for like 1 hour and half.. God definitely takes care of us!!
This week I got to recite the 1st Vision in Spanish!!! Ahh the spirit is so strong, I think even stronger when you are speaking in the language you are called in. And pray in Spanish with three potential investigators.
Speaking of Spanish, my companion is the translator for Sacrament Meeting some weeks + I am the mad scripture chaser as soon as they say the reference so she can read it in Spanish.
Every time we share the 1st Vision there are miracles!! Like when we shared it with Johnathan and his niece was crazy loud the whole lesson, then boom silent during the 1st vision. Or the time the radio was so loud in the kitchen them boom went silent. Or when we had just finished it + 20 seconds later Margaret's dad + other roommate showed up making noise. Or when we were watching The Restoration movie at Michael + Colton's and the whole time it was nuts! People were coming + leaving. Fighting + cussing outside. Then right when "Joseph Smith's First Prayer," started in the movie it was calm and so Colton could totally feel it! I saw it in his eyes! He felt it! But he's being resistant to baptism..
Miracles happen every day if we just pray + have faith! Have a miracle march full of madness!!
xoxo
con amor,
Hermana Slade
BTW: My Utah/Idaho bubble is getting popped. I learned General Conference is not broadcast on local TV, after I told an investigator to watch it on channel 5, don't worry Sister Hickman helped me out. And I also learned people, even members, haven't heard of the DI. Say what!!? And peeps totally open cans of Pepsi during relief society. I was just like what is that noise? Oh just a pop can..
Line of the Week:
Sis McLatchy: Is this important to you?
Ricky: No..
Hna. Rocha: I promise we are all searching for something. Purpose in life. Happiness. Direction. Do you feel you are searching for something?
Ricky: A tattoo artist to do some shading..
Yes the Virgin Mary tattoo is still a part of my week.
